The Adult ADHD Service supports people aged 18+ to assess, diagnose and manage adult ADHD.
About
The Adult ADHD Service supports people aged 18+ to assess, diagnose and offer management for adult ADHD. The service does not manage any other medical conditions that are simultaneously present in a patient. Where there are any mental health concerns assessed, patients will be referred to their local mental health service for assessment and support.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects people's behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse.
What we do
- We provide assessment, diagnosis and management of adult ADHD.
- For ADHD we will recommend treatment plans and offer reviews for optimising the symptom management.
- Your diagnostic process will start with an Initial Assessment appointment with one of our trained nurses, followed by a diagnostic assessment with suitably qualified staff.
Support for moving into ADHD adult services
- The service also offers an ADHD transition pathway, designed to ensure smoother transitions to adult ADHD services. Referrals for the ADHD transition pathway start at age 17 to ensure continuity of care.
- Young people with ADHD will be transferred to Adult ADHD service if they continue to have significant ADHD symptoms or other coexisting conditions that require treatment.
- The transition will be planned in advance by both the referring and the receiving service, with the young person and, when appropriate, their parent/carer involved in the transition planning.
