City of Wolverhampton Council will not normally provide travel assistance for children before the start of the academic year in which they turn 5.  

Exceptional circumstances 

We may choose to provide travel assistance for an individual in exceptional circumstances. For instance, children with an assessed special educational need may be eligible to access travel assistance.  

If your child does not have an Education Health and Care Plan or SEN statement and you would like to find out more about other exceptional criteria that maybe considered, then please view All Age Travel Assistance Policy - Section 19. Or contact the Travel unit to find out about your individual child’s circumstances. 

Is the service free 

In exceptional circumstances support may vary depending upon the need and suitability. When planning transport, we take a person-centred approach and would discuss cost and arrangements with you in these situations.
