Travel Assistance provides home-to-school transport. School and college transport for SEND pupils and additional transport support in exceptional circumstances.
Independent Travel Training age 11 years old and above is a referral-based programme and you can also apply to this to promote independent travel for pupils who have SEN or an EHCP aged 11 to adulthood.
There is no legal duty to provide transport for children below compulsory school age (age 0-4). However, in exceptional circumstances the service may be able to help.
For eligible pupils of compulsory school age home to school travel assistance will be provided.
If the child is eligible for travel assistance at compulsory school age 5-16, then home to school transport will be free of charge.
Pupils aged 16-19 may qualify for travel assistance based on the outcome of assessment.
In exceptional circumstances Travel Assistance may decide that it is necessary to provide travel assistance to students with an (EHC) Plan, who are aged 19-25 years, when they begin a new course of education.
If you're not happy with the travel assistance offer or the outcome of the travel assistance review, you have a right to appeal.
